If you forgot your Discover online account password, you can reset it directly on the official Discover website. You will need to verify your identity with card details and possibly a one-time code before you can choose a new password.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Always start the reset process from the official Discover site at [https://www.discover.com](https://www.discover.com). Do not follow password reset links from unexpected emails or texts.

## How to reset your password

**1. Go to the Discover homepage**

Visit [https://www.discover.com](https://www.discover.com) and click **Log In** to open the login area.

**2. Click Forgot User ID/Password**

Look for the **Forgot User ID/Password?** link near the login fields. The exact label may vary slightly, but it is usually right below the password box.

**3. Select password recovery**

Choose the option to reset your password. You may be asked whether you forgot your User ID, your password, or both. Select the password option.

**4. Verify your identity**

Enter the requested details, such as your card number, expiration date, the last four digits of your Social Security number, and your ZIP code. The exact fields may vary. This step confirms you are the account owner.

**5. Receive and enter a one-time code**

Discover may send a one-time verification code to your registered email address or mobile phone number. Enter that code on the verification page. If you do not receive it within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.

**6. Create a new password**

Choose a strong password that you do not use on any other website. A good password is at least 12 characters long and mixes uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

**7. Log in with your new password**

Return to the Discover login page and sign in with your User ID and the new password you just created.

## Tips for a strong password

* Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
* Avoid common words, birthdays, or sequences like "1234" or "password."
* Do not reuse a password from another website or app.
* Consider using a password manager to generate and store secure passwords.

## If you get stuck

* Make sure you are entering your card details exactly as they appear on your card.
* Double-check that your contact information on file is current so you can receive the verification code.
* If you still cannot verify your identity, call the customer service number printed on the back of your Discover card or listed on [discover.com](https://www.discover.com).
